Hello, I am Madhura and welcome to MadhurasRecipe Marathi Let’s see how to make sushila today. Sushila is a breakfast or any time snack. This recipe is much common in Marathwada. My father is from Marathwada.
Let’s see ingredients first. 2 cups puffed rice those you use for bhel. 1 cup finely chopped onion, 1/4 cup rasted chana dal, That we use in chivada. It is better if you use Pandharpuri roasted chana dal.
1/4 cup roasted peanut powder, 1/4 tsp asafetida, 1/4 tsp turmeric powder, salt to taste, 2~3 finely chopped green chilies, Curry leaves, coriander leaves, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds. Take roasted chana dal into a mortar You also can blend this in mixer.
I will pound this into coarse powder. It is belnded fine in mixer. Coarse powder is ready. This is not fine powder. You can see small pieces of roasted chana dal in this powder. After that add water in puffed rice and soak these just for about a minute.
Take puffed rice out of water after a minute. Drain water from it. Transfer the puffed rice into a dish. I have drained water from all puffed rice. Heat up 2 tbsp oil in a pan for tadka. Add mustard seeds and let it pop up.
Add cumin seeds and let it splutter. So that the tadka tastes nice. Add hing, finely chopped onion, curry leaves and finely chopped green chilies. You can add red chili powder insted of green chili. Mix well and fry onion until it becomes soft and turns light golden.
I have fried onion really good for about 5-6 minutes until it tured light golden. Add turmeric powder and mix well. After mixing turmeric powder add puffed rice that we soaked and drianed water from it.
Stir well. Looking yummy!! Add roasted chand dal that we pounded into coarse powder, roasted peanut powder, salt and mix well. After mixing well cover and steam it. It is steamed well. Mix once more.
