One of my favorite thing to cook is the “langka” (jackfruit). That is why today, we will be cooking a dish using “hilaw na langka” or unriped jackfruit. Welcome to Panlasang Pinoy! I am Vanjo Merano. And now, we will be cooking “Ginataang Langka” with Pork (Music Background) These are the ingredients that we will be using for this dish.
Young jackfruit or ‘hilaw na langka”. This is the pork. “Sibuyas” (Onion). “Knorr Ginataang Gulay Recipe Mix”. This is the 33 gram pack and we will be using 2 of this. We also need to use “sili” (chili pepper) and garlic.
Aside from these ingredients, we will also be using water and cooking oil. This is the complete list of the ingredients together with their respective quantities. Are you all ready? Let’s go and start cooking.
We will first prepare the “gata” (coconut milk). We will just put the “Knorr Ginataang Gulay Recipe Mix” into a big mixing bowl. This is the first pack and we will add next the second one. 2 packs of 33 grams is what we are using.
Then we will put water. We will just mix the mixture of “Knorr Ginataang Gulay Recipe Mix” and water. What we are using here is 2 cups of water. After that, we will just mix it thoroughly. We will make sure that the powder is well diluted in the water.
Then, we will set it aside first and we’ll start now with the stir-frying. We need to heat a cooking pot and we’ll add cooking oil in it. When the oil had warmed up already, it means that we can already saute the onion.
We will just spread the oil across the pot. This is the yellow onion that we have chopped. You can use either red or white onion. Let us just cook it for about 30 seconds. Then, we will put the garlic.
The garlic that we are using is crushed with the use of “Almirez” (Mortar and Pestle) If you want it in tiny pieces, you can still slice the garlic. We will just continue with the stir frying until the onion tenderize and the garlic will eventually turns its color into brown when that happens.
This is what we want to happen. It is time to add the pork. It is better that the pork that we will be using is already cut into small and thin pieces for easier cooking and for it to be easily tenderized.
We will just continue with the stir frying until the pork turns brown. Usually this would take 5 to 6 minutes. And this is now ready. We will now add the “langka” or chopped young jackfruit. You can use the fresh one or the canned jackfruit.
Just make sure that if you are using canned jackfruit, you need to drain it first. We will just continue with the stir-frying for about 3 minutes more. And now, we will add the “sili” (chili pepper). What I am using is here is the chopped thai chili but you can also use a “siling labuyo” in here.
If you are not fond of spicy dish, you can opt not to add “sili” (chili pepper). We will just mix it and continue stir frying for about 2 minutes more. The cooking of “Ginataang Langka” with pork is so easy.
We are almost done in here. We will now just add the last ingredient and it is the “gata” (coconut milk) This is the mixture of “Knorr Ginataang Gulay Recipe Mix” and water. I am using this because it is really convenient for me.
I already have a “gata” (coconut milk) and I don’t need to add more seasoning in the dish. This is really great for those who are new to cooking most especially to those who haven’t tried to cook “gata” (coconut milk) yet.
Let the mixture boil. Then we will just mix it once in a while. We will just continue with the cooking until the “gata” (coconut milk) reduced. If you want it to have more sauce in it, this would be enough.
This is what I want to do for now. But if you want to have less “gata” (coconutmilk) in it, just continue with the cooking until it evaporates. And now, we will transfer it into a serving bowl. And then we will now serve it.
This is now our “Ginataang Langka” with Pork. Let us now taste our “Ginataang Langka” with Pork. We will also taste it with some “sili” (chili pepper) for us to feel the spicyness. Mmm~ Delicious. The pork’s tenderness is just right and the texture of “langka” (jackfruit) is really good.
What I really like in this is the “gata” (coconut milk). It surely is rich and creamy. And it also has a chili pepper in it that is why its spiciness is just right for me. Even if we didn’t season it with fish sauce or pepper, its taste is just right for me.
As you would know, this is really great to be eaten with steaming hot rice. It is prefect to be served on lunch and even on dinner. I hope you will try this recipe if you have liked this dish. And don’t forget to like our video.
