We’re Adam and Joanne from inspiredtaste.net and welcome to our kitchen. This easy baked salmon recipe takes about 30 minutes to make, requires one pan, and tastes amazing. Tender, flaky, soft salmon baked in butter with garlic and capers.
We just love it! Start by mincing garlic — we use quite a bit to make the garlic butter sauce. Remember full recipes with ingredient amounts can always be found on Inspired Taste. Now for some capers, we need to drain them so either use a fork to remove them from the jar or use a strainer.
Since we’re at the cutting board, chop lots of fresh herbs for when the salmon is cooked. We love a combination of parsley, dill, and chives, but you can use what you have on hand. We also serve the salmon with fresh lemon, so cutting one ahead of time is a good idea.
Now to the salmon. Since the garlic caper butter will have so much flavor, we only need to season the fish with salt and pepper. We are pretty generous and do it on both sides. Melt a generous amount of butter in an oven-safe skillet then add the garlic and capers.
Cook the garlic and capers for about 1 minute. Then turn off the heat and add the salmon fillets, skin-side down, to the skillet. Tilt the pan so that butter sauce pools on one side, and then spoon garlic caper butter over each fillet.
Cover the salmon with foil or use parchment paper then slide it into the oven. After about 15 minutes, uncover the salmon and spoon even more of the butter sauce over the fillets. There is so much amazing flavor in the sauce, we take every opportunity to spoon it over the salmon.
So it finishes cooking, place the salmon back into the oven, but this time, leave it uncovered. Continue to bake until the salmon is done. Since the thickness of salmon fillets varies, we provide lots of tips for how to tell when salmon is cooked in the recipe on Inspired Taste.
Just before serving, squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon, spoon a bit more of the butter sauce on top, and finish with the herbs. Enjoy! Thanks for watching. If you love this video we have lots more.
